The chestnut oak is similar in name but not to be confused with swamp chestnut oak. The acorns as well as the twigs provide food for many types of wildlife, white-tailed deer and wild turkey included. This native tree is a winner for your honey hole hunting spot, or for ornamental landscape use in your yard. The yellowish-orange to rusty brown fall color can provide a stunning shade tree near the cabin as the autumn season rolls around. The chestnut oak is intermediately shade tolerant and prefers dryer upland soil sites. In some places this tree is fairly uncommon, so it can also possibly add some unique variety to your property.

So far, all is good

Received trees in great shape. They look like they have strong buds. Can’t wait until spring to see if the buds open. Looking forward to it.

Chestnut Oak

Thrilled these were finally back in stock, even though it was only for a few days. I haven’t seen chestnut oak for sale anywhere else.
I want to buy at least a couple of each species Nativ offers, especially the oaks and their hybrids. I like how oak trees can be so different. I bought ten of these chestnut oaks in case this was my only chance. I’m combining all the oaks I come across (red, white, asian, etc.). Who knows what kind of freaky hybrid will turn up? I’ll probably be long gone by then, but hopefully, my trees will live on beautifying and purifying the world. With all the exercise I’m getting, I may be around to discover one hybrid or two. Planting trees is a zero regret activity. The majesty and awe I experience for trees is so healing.
