The trees in this package have been hand selected by Mossy Oak’s CEO and Founder Toxey Haas to offer land owners a diverse selection of incredible trees for all types of wildlife. Check back periodically, we are always learning all sorts of new and interesting things about plants for wildlife, who knows what will make the list next! Swamp Chestnut Oak (2)- Two words – LARGE ACORNS – This bottomland white oak produces acorns twice the size of regular white oaks, great for early/mid season hunting. Shumard Oak (2)- This highly productive, fast growing, red oak can adapt to many different site and soil conditions. Did we mention it was HIGHLY productive! Paw Paw (3)- This is a great shade tolerant fruit tree for your bottomland sites. Try a piece of the fruit if you can get to it before the critters do! “Surefire” Red Oak (2)- This tree is adaptable to a wide range of soil types, plus you can count on this red oak to consistently produce tons of bite size acorns year after year, great for ducks and turkeys! Chickasaw Plum (3)- AWESOME tree for all types of wildlife ! Not only does this tree form great cover for small mammals and birds, its fruit is favored by wildlife and makes a good snack for hunters as well. Overcup x White Hybrid Oak (2)- This incredibly fast growing hybrid oak will adapt to a very wide range of sites and soil types. Deer love em! Native Pecan (2)- This is a classic low maintenance tree that is excellent for wildlife. The native pecan is a great way to add extra non acorn hard mast to diversify your property. “Early Drop” Shumard (2)- This tree is a great addition to any serious hunters property. The early drop time coincides with most white oak varieties and can supplement them in “off years”. With all the same great aspects as a normal Shumard, this “early drop” variety will extend the amount of time wildlife will spend in the area. It’s all about the “Drop” time! Post Oak (2)- This white oak is a favorite among all types of wildlife. The lateral branching habit makes a great spot for roosting turkeys, and the sweet tasting acorns are highly preferred by deer and other forest critters. “Gobbler” Sawtooth Oak (2)- If you consider hunting over Sawtooth acorns to be a “sure thing” for an early season bow hunting spot the “Gobbler” Sawtooth is the tree for you. Game Birds will be literally flocking to this tree to eat the easily palatable food source, and the deer won’t be far behind them. Overcup x Swamp Chestnut Hybrid Oak (2)- This Hybrid is a super fast growing, easy to establish member of the white oak family that produces gigantic “sweet” acorns. The “Totten” Oak, as we like to call it, gives us the most trouble when the time comes to collect seed. Why? It’s deep woods bottomland location makes it tough but the real challenge is beating the deer to it, deer CRAVE these acorns and if we miss one day of collecting the acorns are gone for good.
